version française des .svg

Bonjour

J'ai une cinquantaine de versions françaises de .svg pour les élèves mais je ne sais pas les téléverser sur wikipedia commons, malgré leur tutoriel. J'ai demandé l'aide de l'association mais je pense qu'ils sont submergés de demandes.

Est-ce que vous auriez le temps de m'aider pour les premiers téléversements ?

bonjour, je suis a la recherche d'une carte des Malouines pour un projet d'Opéra. Il s'agit d'une impression d'un sol en Mosaique. la carte servira de trame. Donc elle ne sera pas vraiment visible tel quelle. La carte que vous avez publié sur Wikipédia communs m'intéresserait si elle est sans légendes et noms écrit dessus. Avez-vous la possibilité d'enlever tout ce qui est écrit de la carte? Merci d'avance de votre réponse

Bonjour. Je veux bien vous fournir une carte vierge mais il faudrait m'indiquer laquelle vous souhaitez réutiliser : la carte topographique ou la carte géopolitique ?

Bonjour Monsieur, je viens de voir votre page concernant les pièces de monnaie françaises que vous présentez. Je m'appelle Frédéric Joubert, graphiste et mon nom apparaît clairement au pied de l'avers de la Tour Eiffel. Je ne souhaite pas faire de polémique mais vous citez Monsieur Jimenez qui a en effet créé certaines pièces mais je suis en fait l'auteur de l'avers de cette pièce que vous présentez en priorité. De voir apparaître mon nom également me donnerait le sentiment de reconnaissance de mon travail. Etant graphiste, plasticien et architecte d'intérieur j'aimerais profiter des moteurs de recherche par le biais de votre site numismate. Merci par avance de votre compréhension et de faire ce qui vous semble bon.

Use of part of plate tectonics graphic in a textbook

Dear Sting, I am in the final stages of manuscript preparation for the revised edition of my 1997 book Tropical Pacific Island Environments. This is a small-circulation textbook used in introductory levels at colleges mostly in Guam and Micronesia, and the new edition will be published by Bess Press, Honolulu. Anticipated circulation about 7000 over a 10-year life span. I have prepared a graphic of the detail in the area around the Philippine Plate from your page at http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bf/Tectonic_plates_boundaries_detailed-en.svg. I can send you the graphic if you like. I modified it by taking a legend from another version on Wikipedia and adjusting a couple of labels on the map to fit the new borders. FYI, I am also using the USGS general map of tectonic plates that you referenced.

Since the book is not licensed under the same guidelines as your webpage, I am requesting your permission to use this segment, credited to you and to the Peter Bird map it was based on.

Swiss Map available in Vector?

Dear Eric

I hope this message finds you well. We are working on a low budget movie where we want to include a Swiss map with several historical routes. Your map http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/73/Switzerland_relief_location_map.jpg?uselang=de would be a great basis. Is there a change to get a vector version of the map so we are able to zoom into certain areas? Do you insist on the copyright caption on the map it self or would it be ok to mention your name in the credits at the end of the movie?

I didn't make a SVG version and do not pretend to create one as it would need a lot of work but I may create a larger and more detailed Jpeg version I would send to you. What approximate size in pixels of the whole map would you need to be able to zoom in?

Putting the credits (mine and user:NordNordWest's one) at the end of the movie is fine for me.

Thank you for the quick response. A pixel graphic would be fine as well – the bigger the better. As we have to create HD quality and need to work with zooming levels, a width of approx. 8000 to 10000 px would be good.

Is this possible? I will make sure you and NordNordWest make it into the credits, please let me know how you would like to be mentioned.

How and when can you make the respective map available to us?

May I draw your attention (perhaps also from Mr. "Woudloper") to the South Shetland Islands region (SL = Shetland microplate) on the map <Tectonic plates boundaries detailed-en.svg> and, of course with higher detail in < http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Scotia_Plate_map-en.png >.

According to the scientific literature the subductive process is not active at present. In addition, perhaps more important, the "arrows" should point in the opposite direction (not to the NW but SE instead).

Hello Andrés and thank you for putting my attention on this point.

I'm not a specialist of that area so I went back to Prof. Peter Bird's reference map and it seems that he didn't know himself which was the movement of that microplate as he put a question mark about its speed. Regarding that information and the one you gave I decided to delete the arrow referring to the movement of that plate from both maps.

Additional remarks to Tectonic plates boundaries detailed-en.svg + missing islands

Greetings again, i) Regarding the presently not-active South Shetland subduction trench, just in case, I am not suggesting to remove the feature. I do suggest turning the triangle-arrows 180° around and using perhaps dashes or points (instead of a solid line). I also recall having seen the subduction "symbols" printed with more opaque, typically grayish colors, in some documents referring to a "fossil" subduction zone. ii) I would also like to mention that if rather small islands are dincluded/displayed (like e.g. between Madagascar and the African coast to mention just a case) other rather bigger land bodies are being omitted (like e.g. islas Malvinas / Falkland I.). For the first point, as I said, I'm not a specialist so I will need reliable sources before making any “big” modifications like a change of direction of movement. If you can provide some links I can use I'll be glad to integer these changes.

About the second point, well, it must be one of the first maps I draw, at a time I even didn't know how to create a map, that's why I used an already existing background map made by another contributor. See that one like a “drawing” mine more than a “map”. Sure, quality standards have changed and it would be a good idea to redraw this (and some other) map. Hi Sting. I wanna ask you about using your map of the Mediterranian Sea for the FRONTEX page here at wikipedia. For that I would add the names of the Frontex operations in there areas where they are. My question is now about the copyright and what I have to fill in where the origin is from. You can, of course, re-use any material from Wikimedia inside the Wikimedia project. In the case of the Mediterranean Sea map, when you are uploading your modified map on Wikimedia Commons, you can put a link to the original map following the Source (in this way: [[:File:Name-of-the-original-map-with-its-extension]]) as well as "[[User:Sting]] and [[User:your-username]]" after the Author.

Cartes topographiques des Iles Britanniques

Yet more praise for your skills. I have done a few adaptations from your Falkland Islands map, and latterly have looked at the File:Scotland topographic map-en.svg.

With a view to other adaptations, for the various Wikipediae or elsewhere, I would be interest seeing how we could get a topographical map of the British Isles in the same style, which could be adapted and localised as required. For Topographical map of Scotland.svg you used a raster map and overlaid additional features in vector form. For the Falkland Islands map though, you went further and vectorised the relief layers also, eliminating the raster element, but with no loss of look or detail. User:Sémhur did the same for a section of the Scotland map (File:SeaHebrides TheMinch map-fr.svg, which I have translated for an English version) though choosing a limited section must have made for an easier task.

Before I start worrying about spending three years over such a map only to find it has been done already and done better, is it on your radar or that of any project of which you are aware?

The first thing we would need to achieve it is a suitable raster topographical map of the whole of the British Isles, then (and this is just thinking out loud) Britain and Ireland together are a bit bigger than the Falkland Islands so is there a way to make it easier than tracing over every single line? There might be a way to extract every area of a set colour which could then be isolated, blacked and vectorised, or is that unrealistic? Your expert opinion would be welcomed.

magnifiques cartes !

un magnifique travail que tu réalises là ! je n'ai regardé que les cartes topographiques, mais ce sont les plus meilleures que j'ai trouvé : précise, et visuellement très réussies ! si c'est possible j'aimerais les utiliser pour un site sur lequel j'interviens. Il n'y a encore quasiment rien en ligne, à part quelques essais en beta (dont un avec un de tes cartes : http://www.sommelix.fr/carte-des-vins-france)

Par ailleurs, est-il possible de récupérer la carte topo de la france en très haute résolution, pour pouvoir zoomer sur certaines régions ? Car tu as déjà fait un bon nombre de régions françaises, c'est formidable, mais il en reste encore quelques-unes. Et d'ailleurs, j'ai pas forcément besoin du découpage par région administratives.

I would like to use the maps of Macedonia, Italy and France in a forthcoming iBook to be used on the iPad. I would like to use the three pictures in a comprehension question about a famous person namely, Mother Teresa. The iBook is an English as a Second Language reader.
