Le fichier File:Bertrand Louis.png utilisé sur cet article a été proposé à la suppression sur Commons. Le motif invoqué est : « The Marxists.org (Marxist Internet Archive or MIA) image policy states that they think their images are in the public domain because they pulled them from old books or (more likely, based on the pixelation) the Internet. They do not own the rights to the image and therefore they are not under the archive's general Creative Commons license (see home page). The most interesting part of the image policy is, "In no case do we possess the original high resolution versions (or in high-res tiffs or other digital formats) or hard copies of the images displayed on the site which we can provide you with." This is to say that they do not provide information on the provenance of the images because they do not have it. Almost all of the portraits from this site are currently marked as Creative Commons or PD based on the life of the subject, but both cases are wrong. The images should only be marked as PD based on either their publication or the death of the author (read: photographer). And if the author is truly anonymous (which would mean that the image was published anonymously and not just presumed to not exist because their work has been scanned on the Internet), we're looking at something like 120 years from creation, depending on the origin country. In any event, I pulled a batch of images below, mostly portraits from the last 100 years with no research of publication date or authorship. The clear question here is whether a photo/etching/illustration was first published by the time of the subject's death, thus starting the copyright clock. With no clear provenance and not 100 years from creation, we cannot make claims about copyright notices or the author's death nevertheless say that these images are in the public domain. (By the way, there are plenty more images from this website that haven't been tagged for this category. And plenty more to investigate even within the category. I did a number but I need to move on.) ».
