Comment se fait-ce que les politiques les plus influents du continent n'aient pas encore été wikifiés ? J'ai « ébauché » Neelie Kroes (nl:Neelie Kroes est une bonne base, mais j'ai la flemme de traduire) et László Kovács (point de départ, mais en hongrois, je comprends uniquement des bribes)...

Je signale qu'une liste des commissaires avec leurs cévés est disponible sur le site de l'Union européenne... et que les photos sont pompables (mais pas sous GPL tout de même) !

Je ne m'y connais pas trop en propriété intellectuelle mais j'ai contacté le détenteur des droits. Il semble que l'usage des photos dans Wikipédia, y compris sous une forme papier vendue, soit possible.

Dear Sir/Madam,

As regular contributor to the free and on-line encyclopedia Wikipedia ([1]), I added pictures of EU-Commissioners to the corresponding articles, since the licence allows educational use.
(See for instance : [2])

However, the Encyclopaedia might be sold in a paper version in a foreseeable future to raise money for this non-profit project - servers and maintenance are costly - and to reach other readers - for instance in school libraries. The pictures' licence does not allow such use, so I ask you whether you could consider :

1. either releasing some pictures in a more conveniant licence (the best would be Wikipedia's default licence : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_Free_Documentation_License) ;
2. or giving Wikepedia the explicit authorisation to use these images.

I hope you will understand the needs of this non-profit and educational project and give a positive answer to my request.

Thanks for your mail and your interest.

There is some misunderstanding concerning the use of the pictures: the pictures as such may indeed not be resold/reloaned. As far as the use of our pictures is concerned, there is absolutely no problem in selling the encyclopaedia.

Furthermore, the "general conditions" are the following: You can use the picture(s) free of charge in the context mentioned below provided that:

• the Audiovisual Library of the European Commission is credited;
• you send us a copy of your publication (office address: BERL 04/350, B-1049 Brussels)
• an electronic copy of the final version per e-mail attachment is also OK and/or a message containing the complete URL of the electronic publication.

This permission implies obviously in no way a transfer of rights nor any exclusivity on the use of the material and I assume that the general interests of the European Union are preserved.
