Halo M. Habertix : thank you for responding to the Liste des Ambassadeurs de France en Grande-Bretagne and I agree with much of what you say. Let me clarify a few points:
  • 1. the UK is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland nowadays (since 1922). Prior to that it was the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland (since 1801) & between 1707 and 1801 it was the United Kingdom of Great Britain (i.e. the union of the kingdoms of England and Scotland). Thus I set this page up like this because it has always been Great Britain since 1707 (but as I have been appealing for, scrutiny by French experts as to how you would like to phrase things is paramount). The list of Ambassadors on the Ambassade de France au Royaume-Uni page was so bad (& has been regurgitated on English Wiki) it is easier to start afresh & when it is sorted to merge the two pages should you so wish.
  • 2. I agree about the headings - again another reason to start afresh : French priorities are not always the same as British ones so it needs thinking about how to introduce these headings.
  • 3. Apart from the fact that there is no article about Jacques Viot whatsoever on Wiki, he did marry into the Romécourt family (hence I provided a link to Who's Who France which was not there before).
  • 4. What I believe would be especially helpful is to get the info correct first but this has not been attended to for a very long time (& in the case of principal Ambassador you'll see that the history of the two nations' diplomatic relations has not always been straightforward hence plenipotentiaries & other types of envoys being sent - it would not be helpful, in my view, to have massive blanks in the years when there was no fully ranking Ambassador in attendance (unless you think otherwise)?

PS. the articles in other languages are also a complete mess so I thought it would be better to go straight to the source, i.e. the French, to get this straight if possible! Here to help & looking forward to hearing - many thanks. M Mabelina (discuter) 30 janvier 2015 à 02:38 (CET)[répondre]

You are nearly the only writer of this page, so if, as you say, "[you] agree with much of what [I] say", feel free to improve the article.
As a start you should define what you want to include in this list ? Regards. -- Habertix (discuter) 31 janvier 2015 à 00:52 (CET).[répondre]
PS If "the articles in other languages are also a complete mess", you are responsible for one of them.
Sharp words indeed! Yes I should have said "except English" (sorry not to be pedantic enough), which I created as a mirror image of the French article, so it is quite good. This is like a see-saw! one moment I am effectively being told to get lost & the next to carry on..? Anyway small consolation I suppose that you can't find too much to grumble about at the moment.
NB. the Liste des Ambassadeurs de France en Grande-Bretagne has only just been started so I look forward to seeing other contributions in due course. Many thanks for your support and please help to improve the article.
