Titre
Black burnished ware vessel sherds (BB2)
Description
English: Complete but broken vessel dating from the Roman period, probably c. 2nd-3rd century. The vessel is a BB2 (black-burnished) urn made on the potter's wheel. It is broken into 27 pieces: 7 larger and 20 smaller ones. One quarter of the vessel is nearly complete and most of the breaks are fresh. It was made from fine, light grey fabric with only few inclusions. The inside surface is rough and the lines from the potter's fingers forming the vessel on the wheel are clearly visible. The outside surface is decorated with a black slip and a shallow incised lattice-pattern which is very typical for this type of pottery.
