DescriptionVotive relief with Zeus Melichius, Hermes, and Hercules (3rd cent. B.C.) at the National Archaeological Museum on 28 September 2018.jpg
English: Found near the Kallirrhoe spring on the river Ilissos, Athens. Probably from the Metroon at Agra. The chthonic deity Zeus Meilichios is depicted at the left, seated. The side of his seat is decorated with a mask of the river Acheloos (the name is inscribed). In the background behind him is preserved part of a female figure holding a cornucopia in her left hand and a bowl in her right. She is the Mother of the Gods or Kallirrhoe, the daughter of Acheloos. Hermes stands in front of Zeus wearing a short chiton and a chlamys and holding a caduceus in his left hand and a trefoil oinochoe in his right. At the right is Hercules, with the lion’s pelt, holding his club in his left hand and probably a vase is his right. First half of the 3rd century B.C. Inventory Number: 1778. National Archaeological Museum of Athens.
