«Прямоугольное полотнище, состоящее из трёх горизонтальных полос, зелёные полосы сверху и снизу равны 1/5 размеру всего полотнища, белая полоса в центре размером 3/5 флага.

В самом центре флага расположен круг, в центре которого, по вертикальной оси на фоне кавказских гор изображены нефтяная вышка, по бокам которой расположились нефтяные качалки. В левой стороне от вышки изображена Столовая гора („Маьтлоам“), в правой — гора Казбек („Башлоам“). Над горами и нефтяными- вышкой и качалками находится изображение восходящего солнца, от которого вверх расходятся семь прямых лучей, символизирующее возрождение города.

Изображение внутреннего круга снизу обрамлено колосьями пшеницы символизирующем плодородие.

Между большим и малым кругами располагается надпись: вверху — „Республика Ингушетия“, внизу — „ГОРОД МАЛГОБЕК“. Надписи разделены звёздочками.

Отношение ширины флага к его длине 2:3. Флаг исполнен в двух цветах: зелёный, белый.

Зелёный цвет: олицетворяет природу, изобилие, является цветом религии Ислам.

Белый цвет: символизирует мир и чистоту».
